Kennet School

Kennet School was the founding school of our Trust. It converted to an academy on 1 April 2011.

Located in Thatcham, Kennet School caters to pupils from Year 7 through to Year 13, offering a comprehensive curriculum that balances academic rigour with a rich array of co-curricular opportunities. It is committed to providing a high-quality education that prepares its pupils for success in an ever-evolving world. The school stands out for its dedication to academic excellence, fostering creativity, and nurturing responsible global citizens. Its comprehensive curriculum, enrichment activities and facilities create an environment where pupils thrive, both academically and personally.

Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to challenge and inspire. From core subjects to diverse electives, we provide a well-rounded education that prepares students for future success. The emphasis on knowledge, critical thinking and practical application ensures that our students not only excel in exams but also develop skills that are vital in the real world.

Personal Development

The house system is the life blood of the school, creating a true sense of belonging for all pupils, regardless of their personal interests and aspirations. From day one in year 7 pupils get a sense of what it means to belong to their house and the part they play in community contribution through which they learn commitment, engagement, and leadership skills throughout their years at school.

Enriching Activities

Kennet School believes in the power of co-curricular activities. Its pupils have access to a wide range of opportunities in disciplines such as sports, arts, music, drama, STEM and community service and more! These activities not only enhance personal development but also contribute to a vibrant and dynamic school community.

The school instils a sense of social responsibility and global awareness in its pupils. Through international trips, community partnerships, and collaborative initiatives, it encourages its pupils to become empathetic and engaged global citizens.

Parental Involvement

Kennet School values the partnership between school and parents. Open communication is key, and dedicated staff actively collaborate with parents to support each pupil's unique journey. Regular updates, workshops, concerts, productions, information evenings, and Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) events ensure that parents are an integral part of their child's education.

Facilities

Don't be fooled by the 1950s buildings; inside lies modern facilities, from well-equipped classrooms, to science laboratories, a library, sports facilities and even a coding lab, all creating an optimal learning environment. These resources support pupils in their academic pursuits and co-curricular activities.

Admissions

For families considering Kennet School, its website provides comprehensive information on admissions procedures and criteria, and key dates. It aims to make the enrolment process transparent and accessible. As with all schools in our Trust, visits are both welcome and encouraged.
